Covenant of Love :: Strengthening the Church One Marriage at a Time

To help create and foster a stronger marriage community at the parish level.

Created by The Alexander House, the Covenant of Love is more than a ministry; it is a call to action, an initiative, and a resource offered to parishes designed to strengthen marriage ministries or to help build a foundation to create one.

The Covenant of Love Marriage Ministry will provide opportunities for the faithful to become educated on marriage in accordance with Church teaching and it will enrich good marriages. It will be a vehicle to provide practical tools for couples to successfully and joyfully live out God’s plan for their vocation of marriage, in turn giving them encouragement and hope in their marriage relationships. . It will also advocate for the dignity, sanctity and permanence of marriage. The Covenant of Love Marriage Ministry will coordinate, create and offer various marriage education and enrichment opportunities for the parish and will be comprised of several sub-ministries (i.e. Marriage Group and the Marriage Disciples).

If you already have a marriage ministry or couples ministry, we can assist you in adding new dimensions that will enhance what you are already doing. Our programs can be easily blended into an existing marriage ministry, or it can become the foundation to build a new one.

The two gold rings are a man’s (bigger on the right) and woman’s wedding ring (smaller on the left). The cross is in the middle to signify that God/Christ must be in the center of the marriage. Covenant by definition is a formal agreement or promise made to someone, and in marriage it takes on the characteristic of the everlasting covenant that God has made with His people. Love is the willingness to die to self and desiring the greatest good for the sake of the beloved. A Covenant of Love is therefore: A promise to die to self for the sake of the beloved till death do you part.
